MArch Architecture (ARB/RIBA part II)
Yumiko’s Kawaii Land, Portishead
This project aims to explore how kawaii ("cuteness" in Japanese) culture can be examined spatially and architecturally. Throughout kawaii's history and development, there have been spatial reflections of its impact on psychology, and in this project the behaviour of Kawaii fans and collectors is constructed and presented on their surroundings. The life of a semi-fictional character named Yumiko jones is explored, with her own unique Kawaii architecture in Portishead, UK.
