Rewild the Wandle
The River Wandle is Croydon's main waterway with a fascinating industrial history where William Morris products were manufactured and where the Trojan Motorworks was based. Over time this delight became neglected and toxic. The project 'Rewild the Wandle' aims to alleviate historic pollution through phytoremediation and with a massive SuDS scheme protect local housing and business from flooding, creating a biodiverse floodable and characterful floodplain habitat.
